Missy Emerson (she/her) is a dedicated educator, historian, and socially engaged creative professional. Originally from Houston, TX, she earned her bachelor's degree in History and now combines her passions for teaching, advocacy, and art. Currently a full-time Special Education teacher and Graduate Research Assistant for the Oklahoma Black Homesteader Project, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Museum Studies Outside the classroom, she owns a graphic design business, leveraging her artistic talents and social media following to highlight injustices and promote causes close to her heart. A strong advocate for community and storytelling, she draws inspiration from her family’s legacy of teaching. When she’s not teaching or creating, she enjoys exploring meaningful connections between art, history, and activism.
