Andreana Prichard, PhD

Founder, Professor

Dr. Andreana Prichard (she/her) is a historian, professor, author, and podcaster. Originally from Ventura, CA, she earned a PhD in African History from Northwestern University in 2011 and now serves as the Wick Cary Associate Professor in Honors and History at the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on the history of Western evangelical development initiatives in East Africa. Dr. Prichard’s current project examines the global "do-gooder" economy through the lens of a 2014 legal case involving an Oklahoma missionary. In addition to her academic work, Andreana supports faculty development and enjoys spending time with her family exploring water and sand destinations.

Missy Washington

Designer

Missy Emerson (she/her) is a dedicated educator, historian, and socially engaged creative professional. Originally from Houston, TX, she earned her bachelor's degree in History and now combines her passions for teaching, advocacy, and art. Currently a full-time Special Education teacher and Graduate Research Assistant for the Oklahoma Black Homesteader Project, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Museum Studies Outside the classroom, she owns a graphic design business, leveraging her artistic talents and social media following to highlight injustices and promote causes close to her heart.  A strong advocate for community and storytelling, she draws inspiration from her family’s legacy of teaching. When she’s not teaching or creating, she enjoys exploring meaningful connections between art, history, and activism.

Bethany Sseruwagi

Undergraduate Researcher

Bethany is a senior microbiology student at OU. She is the recipient of the African Studies Institute Student/Faculty Mentorship Award. Under the auspices of TLP, Bethany is conducting research on the "DIY humanitarian" efforts of African expats in the US.

Goldie Snow

Undergraduate Researcher

Goldie is a senior set design major at OU. Her research with TLP has been focused on the OU women's rugby team, the Roses!
